Biography

Our Pastor Rev. R.A. Hendricks

Rev. Ray A. Hendricks is a native of Austin, Texas, and a faithful servant-leader with a heart for people and a passion for ministry. Before answering the call to full-time ministry, Pastor Hendricks served the City of Austin as a firefighter for 23½ years, retiring in 2003.

He was married for 34 beautiful years to the late Sandra Johnson Hendricks, a devoted wife, mother, and beloved First Lady of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Sister Sandra was called home to be with the Lord in December 2016. Her legacy of love, faith, and service lives on in the hearts of her family and the Rehoboth Church community.

Together, Pastor and Sister Sandra raised three children: Darrick Hendricks, Deandrea (Robert) Blades, and Desirae (Chauncey) Patterson. Pastor Hendricks is also the proud grandfather of three granddaughters: Alaijah Hargrove, Darriah Hendricks, Heaven Patterson and Berkley Blades.

In August 2020, God blessed Pastor Hendricks with a new partner to share life and ministry. He married Sister Shirley Jackson of South Carolina, who now serves faithfully alongside him. She is the loving mother of one daughter, Natasha King, and mother-in-law to Vashon King. Together, they have two grandsons, Jaylen and Jace King, who have brought joy and expansion to the Hendricks family.

Pastoral Leadership at Rehoboth

Pastor Hendricks was called to serve as the shepherd of Rehoboth Baptist Church in February 2005 and was officially installed on April 10, 2005. Since that time, he has led the congregation with wisdom, vision, and a deep commitment to both spiritual development and community impact.

Under his leadership, Rehoboth has launched numerous ministries, including:

  • Men’s Ministry

  • Health and Wellness Ministry

  • Bible Training Union

  • Children’s Church

  • “In to Win” Young Men and Women’s Ministry

  • New Members Orientation

  • Weekly Bible Study and Discipleship Classes

  • Community Fellowship Outreach Ministries

  • Premarital Counseling for Engaged Couples

Pastor Hendricks has also mentored and ordained sons in the ministry, including Rev. Chauncey Patterson in 2011 and Rev. Stevie L. Spence in 2025, who now pastors St. Phillips M.B.C. in Rosanky, Texas.

Rehoboth Baptist Church has experienced both spiritual and physical growth under his leadership, including building renovations, land acquisitions, and the successful relocation to a new worship facility at 8341 Cross Park Drive in 2025.

A Pastor with Purpose

Pastor Hendricks continues to serve as a community leader, mentor, and advocate for justice. His commitment to outreach and discipleship has touched lives both inside and outside the church walls. His life’s mission is to equip believers to live purposefully, serve faithfully, and walk boldly in their calling—empowered by faith and led by love.
